Spring skiing is in the air, and so is the wonderful fashion that comes with it. Katie, Kate, Matthew, Tim and Will hit up Sunshine (booo!) on Cinco de Mayo for some more mid-season conditions. We got bored early though as it is Sunshine after all.

I Can't Believe It's Not Mid-Season
And I also can't believe it's not butter! The Kates and Matthew met up with Tim and Will at Louise last Saturday for the best end of season skiing any of us had ever seen.
After waiting in an exceedingly long line for the gondola and riding half way up the mountain we were still a little nonchalant about the day. Then we started to see the snow! There was six inches of fresh powder sitting on the top half of the mountain! We had some great runs off the summit into the Whitehorn gullies, getting fresh tracks and face shots on April 28!!!
They finally opened Brownshirt in the afternoon and we were eager to get over there for some fresh tracks. Well, having been sun-baked all morning while it was closed left all that beautiful-looking snow a little crusty. There were a number of wipe outs but in good fun... everyone on the run was laughing it up as they had expected something so great and then were falling all over the place.
After lunch we hit up Meadowlark for some really good runs. It was closed due to lack of snow, but we poached it anyway (as I said, nothing like poaching a blue run!) It was so fast and untouched, we killed ourselves laughing both times.
The last run of the day saw us all giving the puddle at the bottom of the hill a run for it. Will went first, then myself, and then Katie. And that's where things went astray. She did a stupendous face plant in the middle of the huge puddle, to the cheers and applause of a few hundred onlookers! To make matters even funnier she lost her ski and had to wade around in the shin-deep water for a few minutes looking for it. Tim and Matthew followed soon after and both decided to be good guys and not splash her. We all wish they had.
All in all, fantastic day! It was possibly last day at Louise in a really long time and I couldn't have asked for anything more. Great friends, great laughs and great skiing, that's what it's all about!
Suits du Jour... literally
Look at all that snow!
They're not Bitches, but they're on skis! Will and Tim were great ski buddies for the day!

All smiles at the end of a great day, and season!

It's Spring!
And the bitches are out in full force! The Kates and Matthew hit the slush/powder at Louise on Sunday. Well, Matthew did 3 runs, had pizza and then slept in the car all afternoon. The skiing was pretty good, the conditions were really variable but there was lots of good stuff to be had and nobody on the hill. Even with very little crowd, spring skiing tends to bring out the best in outfits and we managed to capture a few suits du jour for our readers.
The intention was to put together a nice video for the day, but filming stopped after one addition to the blooper reel. Warning, the video you are about to see is graphic, but nobody was seriously injured so laugh away.

Best Ski Weekend EVER!!!
The Kates and Matthew finally went to lovely Golden, BC on the March 10th - 11th weekend to ski Kicking Horse. Due to a mud slide the road to Golden was closed on Friday night so the team spent the night in Banff and headed out early Saturday morning for the rest of the drive. The highway had opened at midnight so it was clear sailing.
Saturday was an overcast but warm day. In typical Kicking Horse style, even though there wasn't much for new snow, there were fresh tracks to be had. Late in the day it started to snow a bit, which in town was rain. As the evening wore on the rain picked up, so...
Sunday was incredible! 20+ cm overnight and it puked all day. We got fresh tracks all day and face shots on every turn. There were stashes of thigh-deep powder even at the end of the day! We all agreed that it was our best ski day ever.

Suit du Jour, March 12, 2006 KickingHorse
Since it was one of those rare and wonderful two ski-day weekends, we have another Jour for which to pick the Suit, woohoo! Here are the candidates...

Contestant 1: This is a great 1-piece with beautiful pastel color blocking on the front and some wonderful red rear-entry boots. As if that wasn't enough, this picture was taken by our lovely photographer Tamara, while skiing! Kudos to you Tamara, job well done chica!
Contestant 2: Another great one. Beautiful shimmering purple 1-piece, with lovely white rear-entry boots. What the photo doesn't show is the belt with a spectacular shiny gold buckle.

Only 2 contestants today, there were some other great ones at the hill but we were unable to deftly capture them on film. Let us know who you think should be the Suit du Jour.
Suit du Jour, March 11, 2006 KickingHorse
Well here it is folks, the very first Suit du Jour! Here's how it will work. Each time the BOS girls are out on the hills we will keep our eyes peeled for wondrous displays of slopeside fashion. We will do our best to capture these outfits in all their glory and post the photos here. This is when you, the discerning visitor to the BOS blog, come in. Please click on "Stuff People Said" and tell us which suit you think should claim the title of "Suit du Jour." At the end of the week we will tally the votes and declare the lucky winner. And away we go!

Contestant 2: This is a 1988 Calgary Olympics Jacket, also please note the classic rear-entry boots.
Contestant 3: We like to call this one Psychotic in Teal, a fine 1-piece I do declare! Added bonus: we believe this guy is wearing the outfit as a joke.

Contestant 4: This picture doesn't really do him justice, but believe me, this is a fabulous purple 1-piece with red accents and matching red boots.
So please, vote early, vote often! Do your part in crowning the first ever "Suit du Jour" and tell us what you think!

Contestant 1: Big Red, a great 1-piece, although the lack of ski boots puts her at a distinct disadvantage.
